Itinerary

Arrive at the Srinagar airport and drive to Shitkadi in Sonamarg, situated at an elevation of 8,950 feet. - Distance of about 85 kilometers taking typically around 3 hours. - Upon arrival in Shitkadi, you will check in at your lodging and get ready for the upcoming trek. Take the evening to acclimate to the altitude and relish the peaceful ambiance of Sonamarg.

- The journey commences with a 12-kilometer hike from Shitkadi to Nichnai, lasting approximately 7-8 hours. - The path begins with a gentle incline through meadows and pine forests, gradually revealing the breathtaking panoramas of Sonamarg. - The final leg entails a steep ascent to Nichnai, where you will establish your camp for the night. - Positioned at 11,500 feet, the campsite at Nichnai provides magnificent views of the neighboring mountains and the valley below.

- Today's journey spans 12 kilometers and lasts around 7-8 hours. - Starting from Nichnai, the trek involves climbing to the Nichnai Pass, situated at an elevation of 13,500 feet. - Ascent is a bit demandingbut eh eviews make it worthwhile. As you descend from the pass, you'll enter the picturesque Vishansar Valley. Passing through flower-filled meadows, the trail eventually leads to Vishansar Lake. Nestled at 12,000 feet, the lake is encircled by snow-capped peaks and offers a tranquil camping location.

- Today marks one of the most demanding days of the trek, spanning 17 kilometers over 9-10 hours. - The journey kicks off with a gradual ascent to Kishansar Lake, located near Vishansar Lake. - Following this, a challenging climb awaits to reach Gadsar Pass, the trek's highest point at 13,750 feet, offering breathtaking views of the nearby peaks and valleys. - Descending from the pass, you will arrive at Gadsar Lake, renowned for its pristine waters. The last leg involves a relatively easier walk to the Gadsar campsite at an altitude of 12,000 feet.

- Today's journey is a bit shorter, spanning 10 kilometers over approximately 5 hours. - The path from Gadsar to Satsar includes a blend of uphill and downhill segments, guiding you through stunning alpine meadows and unspoiled scenery. - At the Satsar campsite, nestled at 12,100 feet, you'll find yourself surrounded by seven charming lakes, creating a serene and picturesque atmosphere for the night.

- The journey to Gangabal Lakes spans 11 kilometers and requires approximately 5-6 hours. - Upon reaching Gangabal Lakes, you will be treated to breathtaking views of Harmukh, one of the highest peaks in the area. - These twin lakes, located at 11,500 feet, are famous for their serenity and beauty. The lakeside campsite provides a perfect setting to unwind and savor the unspoiled surroundings.

- Today is set aside as a buffer day, giving you time to relax and discover the vicinity of Gangabal Lakes. - Enjoy leisurely strolls around the lakes, try some fishing, or just admire the stunning views of the nearby peaks. - This day also acts as a backup in case of unexpected delays or to adjust the schedule due to weather conditions.

- On the final day of the trek, you will embark on a 16-kilometer walk from Gangabal to Naranag, lasting around 6-7 hours. - Upon arrival at Naranag, your trek will come to an end, and you will drive back to Srinagar. T - Once in Srinagar, you can unwind and savor the city's comforts, bringing your unforgettable adventure to a close and enjoy a welcome break back for a hot shower and comfortable beds

After enjoying a delightful morning meal, you will head back to your hometown, carrying the wonderful memories of the trek along with you.

Altitude Sickness

Altitude Mountain Sickness is an illness as an effect of high altitude resulting in a rapid change in air pressure (air gets thinner) and oxygen level (less oxygen to breathe). These are a group of symptoms that arise while walking at a high altitude (more than 2,500m above sea level) without properly acclimatizing the body. The point to be noted is that AMS can occur to anyone, even those with great physical fitness as it depends upon several factors. The most prominent factors are how much elevation you are gaining in what period of time, the place where you live, and the altitude there. Previous records of Altitude Sickness can also determine if you will get AMS.

The symptoms of acute mountain sickness generally appear within hours of moving to higher altitudes. They vary depending on the severity of your condition.
